Six months after the initial kick-off of the SOTERIA project, the Basque Center for Climate Change (BC3) hosted the first General Assembly in Valencia, Spain. Partners from across Europe came together on 10th & 11th April to discuss the project’s progress, challenges, and next steps needed towards the overall goal of testing innovative insurance solutions in the face of climate change.
G&Co plays a key role in identifying innovative insurance solutions whilst also carrying out case studies in Bavaria, Germany and in Zadar, Croatia. During the General Assembly, updates from various work packages and case study regions were shared, sparking productive discussions and engaging working sessions.
Our G&Co delegates reported in detail on the case studies we are responsible for, demonstrating the developments already made and reinforcing strong partnerships with fellow stakeholders. The meeting served as a hub for sharing new ideas, offering support, and addressing critical project questions.
Wrapped up with a visit to the Valencian case study, the Marjal dels Moros, a coastal wetland which is to be protected and restored as a nature-based solution, the General Assembly was successfully concluded. It effectively inspired partners with new perspectives and motivated everyone to turn ideas into action. Meaningful conversations during the two days helped overcome challenges, identify synergies, and promote innovative approaches.
Going forward, our focus is on translating these insights into tangible outcomes and advancing collaborative efforts to foster climate resilience through innovative insurance solutions.
