As part of the international H2020_Insurance project consortium, we are working on innovative natural hazards modelling approaches for the insurance industry. Significant here is the implementation of climate modelling, because the goal is to enhance risk management against extreme weather events at all scales and to derive adaptation strategies for climate change. In one of five subprojects we work together with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) on a holistic flood modelling along the whole catchment of the Danube river. Genillard & Co acts as an intermediary between science and the insurance sector and delivers know-how and model requirements of insurers into the modelling process. All developed NatCat models for the qualitative and quantitative forecasting of natural hazard events in different sectors (agriculture, forest management, etc.) are made available on the OASIS platform to a plurality of stakeholders and thereby strengthens the resilience to climate change for the whole society.
