In the dynamic world of aquaculture, staying updated on the latest trends in the value chain and related business risks, is critical for project success. The international Aqua Nor conference in Trondheim, Norway offers immense value to professionals and stakeholders active in this industry. Aqua Nor serves as a global hub for aquaculture hosting experts, researchers and stakeholders. Through exhibitions, discussions and seminars, it provides a multi-dimensional opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies and foster collaboration.
G&Co’s Iliad task force attended the event to learn more about the current challenges and developments in the industry and to meet stakeholders. We were able to broaden and deepen our knowledge; from the technology and data going into aquaculture, to the research being undertaken to continually address needs, improve performance and provide lasting impact. We were furthermore able to meet up with partners from the Iliad project as well as from other related EU initiatives. Christopher Genillard, Chairman of the G&Co Advisory Board, was invited to present our pilot project at the SINTEF workshop on robotics and digitalisation in the field.
Overall, Aqua Nor and the surrounding events proved to be a highly valuable conference. We will use our improved insight and expanded network to efficiently advance our project pilot towards our goal of providing a holistic risk assessment platform for a variety of stakeholders in the aquaculture industry.
Despite being a major industry and using state-of-the-art technology and data in many ways, our discussions have shown that comprehensive risk management in aquaculture is still somewhat underdeveloped, yet it is essential for efficient (re)insurance. Together with our project partners, we hope that our Aquaculture Risk Metrics (AqRM) platform will deliver significant benefits to aquaculture stakeholders and society at large.
